Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB De CV has reported sales of MXN 18.05 billion for April 2008, a 6.7% increase over sales reported for April 2007. The company reported that comparable store sales increased 1.3% for April 2008, compared with a 4.5% increase for April 2007. Costumer count in comparable stores registered a 2% increase during the month of April, while average ticket decreased 0.7% compared to the same month of 2007.

Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB De CV has opened Plaza Ecologica Ciudad Jardin, located in former Neza 1 dump, in the municipality of Netzahualcoyotl, State of Mexico. The company announced that the mall has state-of-the-art technology to save energy and water. With an investment amounting to MXN 640 million, this is the first ecological shopping center in Mexico, and will generate 3,500 permanent jobs.

Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB De CV reported an 11% increase in first-quarter profits despite a consumption slowdown. The company reported net income rose to MXN 3.26 billion ($308 million; €197 million) in the first quarter of 2008, from MXN 2.94 billion ($278 million; €177 million) in the year-ago period. Net sales totaled MXN 57 billion ($5.4 billion; €3.4 billion) in the first quarter.
